People and Development (PAD) is established by a group of professionals involved variedly in media, development, education, business and others as a movement aiming in bringing a new and innovative approach to assist in rebuilding New Nepal, defying the conventional concept of charity and development and prefiguring a new concept of rights, activism and building consensus on broader level. PAD primarily works through advocacy in protecting and promoting rights by lobbying, campaigning, discourse, pressure groups, and social conscientisation. It is a network and cluster of more than 75 Non-Government, Clubs, community-based, forums, and grass-roots organisations in all 75 districts of Nepal. MISSION:
PAD is committed towards empowering, & sensitizing general public to enhance their participation in the nation building process. VALUES AND PRINCIPLES: Faith in people’s sovereignty and capacity for positive change; Promotion of inclusive mechanism and socio-economic justice; Locating Consensus among differences; Promotion of democratic values; Transparency and accountability.
Objectives - Increasing awareness and understanding amongst people on various political, social, economic issues facing Nepal through awareness campaigns, advocacies, interactions etc;
- Increasing access and availability of information to the general public on relevant socio-economic, political issues through Research, Studies and Publication, Seminars, dissemination of information, Interaction Programmes etc
- Collaborating with other agencies (GOs/NGOs/INGOs/Private/Public) to leverage equitable and sustainable access to socio-economic opportunities for people;
- Contributing in competency development of youth in terms of skills, knowledge and motivation through orientation, training and development interventions;
- Contributing in creating suitable environment for people to apply their capacity in the most productive and sustainable manner through policy intervention, lobbying etc
- Increasing awareness level of people on the fundamental human rights etc through right based movement;
- Contribute to peace-building by bringing people of diverse background together to interact on socio-economic, political and cultural issues thereby mitigating conflict and enhancing reintegration in society
